So many people know have asked themseleves one very important question… “Why am I here?”. There’s something inside everyone that seems to instincitively feel that there is a great purpose or mission that we should be fulfilling. Some would even go as far as to say it was a calling. That thing, that if only it could identify and done, would make life so much more fulfilling and satisfying. That one thing which would give meaning to the mundane aspects of our lives and would build a legacy that we could leave to our children’s children. The only question is, how do you identify that one thing?
Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.
As a Christian I believe that this Bible verse is primarily about a time to come, when Jesus is fully revealed, however I think it can also apply to now. As we take the focus of ourselves and stop worrying about who we are and how we should be, and put our focus on Him, we will find that He is revealed more and more to us. As Christ becomes more revealed in us and through us our purpose and calling, what we are on this planet to do, will be revealed to us. Isn’t that just like so much in the Bible? As we sow we reap, as we take our eyes off ourselves we find ourselves. As we lose our lives we find our lives. As we serve God’s purpose we find our purpose. As we conform to be more like Him, we become more and more uniquely ourself. God must really chuckle to Himself as He watches us get our knickers in a twist over the simplest of things.
